You need to let go of the notion that it should be perfect. You need to prepare a a few notes and read them through before you start. I started with non-fiction (see signature). Then I prepare some notes for the next chapter, synch it to my phone ready for the next walk.Ĭlick to expand.I've found that getting your brain around dictation takes a bit of practice. Then I come home, synch it with the laptop and fix up the serious WTF sentences because I can still remember what was supposed to have gone in that spot. I take my phone on a walk, and dictate a chapter or two. This.īut I guess that's true of all dictation software.Īccuracy is good enough for a first draft. I've tried this for a bit over a week now, and it's awesome! Use the native dictation capability on your iphone to speak directly into Scrivener. I have this already, because I went on a plane trip longer than the battery life of my Mac, but tbh typing with your thumbs is a PITB I have a pc, but it's 8 years old and big and clunky (even if it's indestructible!) I was iffy about springing for Dragon for Mac because it's said to be buggy. ![]() I had looked at dictation, used the Mac's native dictation capability-which is not terribly good and has some really annoying bugs. I'm not a terribly fast writer, more like medium speed, and had wanted to find a way to both write faster and be more active. In another thread here, someone mentioned a tip that I've tried over the past week and it's worked a treat.
